4U NAS capable server
Crystal Group Inc., a manufacturer of powerful, compact computers that fit mission critical applications, recently announced the newest addition to the Crystal computer server family, the RS47F. RS47F is a network-attached storage (NAS) capable server designed for shipboard, airborne, and land-based applications. The RS47F is designed and being tested to meet MIL-STDs 810F, 167-1, 461E, and 901D requirements.
The RS47F computer server provides many processor options: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo, Dual Core Intel® Xeon®, Quad Core Intel® Xeon® and AMD Opteron. The expansion choices in this short depth (20 inches) NAS server include various PCI, PCIe and PCI-X combinations, meaning greater adaptability. Up to fifteen drives and a slimline CD/DVD are available. The drives are removable and hot swappable. This high capacity server offers up to 15 terabytes storage, is RAID capable and can be deployed as a NAS server. The RS47F server also utilizes reliable hardware solutions specifically designed to meet the users’ operational environment. Hard drives and CD-ROM are vibration isolated to reduce energy transmission to the components. Multiple attachment points for motherboard limit deflection in vibration which, in turn, limit solder joint fatigue. All fasteners contain locking features for retention during vibration.
The chassis side walls of the RS47F are assembled using milled HS Aircraft Aluminum and internal support structures, allowing the server to operate under extreme conditions. The thicker aluminum construction is designed to limit weight, improve thermal conductivity, improve vibration performance, and enhance electrical conductivity. All aluminum construction is made of 0.360″ extruded side walls with structural reinforcement increased with several 0.187″. Stamped aluminum top increases chassis stiffness. 6061 T651 aluminum posseses exceptional strength and high thermal conductivity. The cross braces are installed within chassis.
Internal compartments segregate/isolates EMI emissions from the components. Finish coating is applied to maintain superior EMI/EMC characteristics throughout life of unit. The superior cooling system consists of high speed, high volume fans which offer maximum airflow and are designed for long life. Custom cabling increases airflow through unit. Conduction cooling techniques aid in extending temperature range. Sand/Dust/Humidity kits are also available.
