Automotive precision thin film chip resistor array
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the release of the ACAS 0612 AT automotive precision thin film chip resistor array, which is tested according to AEC-Q200 and offers a 1000-V ESD stability rating. The new Vishay Beyschlag ACAS 0612 AT resistor array offers defined tolerance matching down to 0.1 % (equivalent to ±0.05 %) and TCR tracking down to 10 ppm/K (equivalent to ±5 ppm/K), making it ideally suited for precision analog circuit, voltage divider, feedback circuit, and signal conditioning applications that require extraordinarily stable fixed resistor ratios. The device is optimized to meet new automotive industry requirements for temperature and humidity, while offering high repeatability and stable performance for industrial, telecommunication, and consumer electronics.
ACAS 0612 Automotive thin chip resistor arrays with convex terminations combine the proven reliability of discrete automotive chip resistors with the advantages of chip resistor arrays. Defined tolerance matching and TCR tracking makes this product perfectly suited for applications with outstanding requirements towards stable fixed resistor ratios. A small package enables the design of high density circuits in combination with reduction of assembly costs. Four equal resistor values or two pairs are available. With an absolute TCR down to ±25 ppm/K, the ACAS 0612 AT features a maximum film temperature of +155 °C and a 75-V operating voltage. The device is offered with resistance values from 47 Ω to 150 kΩ in two pairs or four equal resistor values. Each resistance element is rated to 0.1-W dissipation, up to a maximum of 0.3 W per package. The resistor array offers a low cost when compared to using four high-precision resistors, and its small 1.5-mm by 3.2-mm package enables the design of high-density circuits. Suitable for processing on automatic SMD assembly systems, the new device is RoHS-compliant and compatible with lead (Pb)-free and tin/lead (Sn/Pb) reflow and vapor-phase soldering processes.
The device delivers stable performance for automotive electronics, including engine control units, gear box controls, information, safety, power supply, body electronics, and braking systems; industrial electronics, such as energy management, measurement control, steering technology, sensors, scales, and bridged and precision amplifiers; telecommunication electronics such as display technology and base stations; and consumer electronics including high-end audio and studio technology. The resistors are suitable for processing on automatic SMD assembly systems. The encapsulation is resistant to all cleaning solvents commonly used in the electronics industry, including alcohols, esters and aqueous solutions.
The production of the components is strictly controlled and follows an extensive set of instructions established for reproducibility. A homogeneous film of metal alloy is
deposited on a high grade (96 % Al2O3) ceramic substrate and conditioned to achieve the desired temperature coefficient. Specially designed inner contacts are realised on
both sides. A special laser is used to achieve the target value by smoothly cutting a meander groove in the resistive layer without damaging the ceramics. The resistor elements are covered by a protective coating designed for electrical, mechanical and climatic protection. The terminations receive a final pure tin on nickel plating.
The resistors are RoHS compliant; the pure tin plating provides compatibility with lead (Pb)-free and lead-containing soldering processes. The ACAS 0612 AT also complies with the GADSL and the CEFIC-EECA-EICTA list of legal restrictions on hazardous substances. This includes full compliance with 2000/53/EC End of Vehicle life (ELV), 2000/53/EC Annex II to End of Vehicle Life (ELV II) directives, 2002/95/EC Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), and 2002/96/EC Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE).
