GAO RFID introduces new Gen 2 RFID tags

GAO RFID Inc. offers a new standard of excellence through the release of its novel line of Gen 2 UHF RFID tags designed for harsh environment and suitable for on-metal tagging. These passive RFID tags set the bar in providing dependable transmission of data in demanding industry conditions such as changing temperatures and mechanical stress. The line of transponders includes the small and durable (IP68) Ironside, the cost effective Survivor, and the light-weight and enduring Halo.

The Ironside has an impressive read range of up to eight meters (8m) on metal and can easily be affixed to any metal surface either mechanically or by using industrial adhesives. Ironside is the flagship of Special Tag portfolio with fully encapsulated body and high performing UHF tag inside. The tag can be mounted easily on any metallic surfaces either with industrial adhesive or mechanically e.g. pop rivets. This small, fully encapsulated tag has been successfully used in asset tracking applications such as railway and warehousing solutions. This RFID tag successfully passed the rigorous testing requirements for Aerospace standard AS5678 specification.

The Survivor is another highly durable Class 1 Gen 2 hard tag suitable for on-metal mounting, but it may be used on any surface. This long read range passive tag offers the best performance-to-cost ratio in the industry. Survivor exploits the technology of passive RFID to its fullest potential, offering the longest read distance in the market. The requirements for high-speed tag reading are met through C1G2 protocol compliance. Survivor is suitable for returnable transit items and contents of any kind. It can be mounted to any surface, including metal, which is usually an insurmountable obstacle for the using passive RFID. It has been successful deployed in container applications and is a suitable solution for tracking large and valuable assets such as vehicles or metal pipes.

The Halo RFID tag provides IP68 defenses from many harsh conditions through its light-weight yet high-strength temperature-resistant durable plastic housing. Its design enables easy attachment either through adhesive, tape or mechanically through its mounting holes. Sporting a read-range of three to four meters (3-4m) on-metal, this tag works well with either a fixed or handheld RFID reader and is ideally suited for many inventory and warehouse apps. Halo can be utilized in IT asset tracking where its sleek form factor fits in the often limited exposed areas of enterprise IT servers and equipment. Halo is also ideally suited for use on returnable transit items such as pallets, bins and totes, and to support warehouse management applications, where location tags identify individual shelves, and are read remotely by fork-lift trucks, liberating the user from the line-of-sight requirements of legacy barcode systems. Its design even makes it perfect solution for tracking IT assets such as routers or servers.

GAO RFID Inc. has also released a UHF 902 MHz. Gen 2 Symbol RFX Passive RFID ideal for item level tagging on plastic and glass items, totes containers and trays. The tag supports EPC Class 1 GEN2 Protocols and operates in the US (902-928Mhz) frequency. The Gen 2 Symbol RFX Passive RFID Tag is well-suited for use on reusable containers and is a contactless read-write RFID tag with a capacity of 96 BIT EPC ID. The Gen2 Symbol RFX Passive RFID Tag has a long durability as it is waterproof and dustproof IP67 and resistant to immersion in salt water, alcohol, oil, 10% HCL and ammonia. The Gen 2 Symbol RFX Passive RFID Tag features a Symbol RFX6000 read/write Inlay. It is available with offset printing and silk screen with logo or numbering and bar code. The Gen 2 is small and cost effective making it useful for applications where their tags will be disposed of with the product packaging.
