Garmin nuvi 660 4.3-inch widescreen gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen and thus offers a better view of the area through which you are driving. This feature is especially useful in showing you what parks, banks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. View map detail, driving directions, photos and more in bright, brilliant color. Its sunlight-readable, 4.3-inch display is easy to read - from any direction. Use the touch screen interface to select destinations, look up POIs, and play your favorite MP3s and audio books. The display also helps you control hands-free calling, traffic alerts, and the FM transmitter, all from the screen of your personal travel assistant. Instead of straining your ears to hear turn-by-turn directions or your favorite MP3s, you can enjoy wireless FM audio transmission via the navigator’s wireless FM transmitter. Tune your car’s radio to the appropriate station and you’ll hear all the bluetooth portable GPS navigator’s audio, including voice prompts, MP3s, audio books, and more, directly through your car stereo system.
The nüvi 660 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps, including a hefty POI database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Garmin nuvi 660 is arguably the best GPS navigator product on the market. The only reason you may want to hold off a purchase is to wait until they make these devices thinner and lighter so you can carry one easily in your pocket when you take out of your car. The biggest flaw so far in the Garmin nuvi 660 is the failure to give you the heads up on when to exit on a highway before you are a few hundred feet from the exit. The navigator can only read MP3 files. The .wma format doesn’t work so you’ll have to convert all those files into MP3 before you can load them into your GPS. The battery life is less than 2 hours, but a cord is provided to plug into the car. While the street map is pretty complete, there are some quirks with navigation. Overall this unit has been great. Be sure to update the firmware when you receive it. All the needed software for nuvi 660 can be found on the Garmin website.
