HDMI is backward compatible with DVI-D. This HDMI switch will work with either DVI or HDMI. We understand that you may have a “mixed” system and require different cables. The 5×2 HDMI distribution amplifier allow users to simultaneously show the same HD video to 2 displays via HDMI at full 1080P resolution. In additon, HDMI audio is also converted to Digital Toslink output so you can easily integrate with your surround sound audio system via the Optical Toslink Audio Output. A Digital Toslink Audio output is provided. The Digital Toslink Audio Output couples audio data from the HDMI data stream. The 5×2 Distribution Amplifier processes the HDMI data and outputs the audio via Toslink Audio while leaving the HDMI signals (audio and video) available to both HDMI outputs. The advantage is that users can easily integrate the 5×2 HDMI distribution amplifiers with pre-existing surround Sound Audio Equipment that has no HDMI audio capability.
